A Sketch for Christmas 2014

The pages I share with you today are designed after a sketch from Let’s Scrap.

I do love hexagons and so had a fun time in my Christmas bin of papers.  The two boughs of poinsettias (from an old Stampin’ Up! stamp set) are stamped and colored with watercolor pencils before cutting out.  Font is cut with Cricut cartridges. My papers are mostly by Color Bok, Ecko Park, K&Co, Miss Elizabeth’s, and Graphic 45.

This sketch offered me a fun way to save these sweet memories of Leia in the Doc McStuffins outfit I picked up for her at the Disney Store.

Three from Sketches at Play

Currently my favorite form of play is scrapbooking and I love it when I find a sketch that makes this first basic part of building a page fun – just the right amount of detail for the challenge.  Motivation for all these pages also came from the Scrapbusters challenge, which was to use: – 3 patterned papers; – 2 pieces of chipboard; –  a die-cut; – a crimped or pleated item.

Keeping these in mind I started with a sketch from Cheryl Even.

The background is a sheet of Bazzill and all the scraps are from my bin, mostly of which I have no vender names. The solid is SU’s Lucky Limeade which may not be as old but is surely a year by now.  I love that Cheryl gives the measurements, making all those smaller pieces a breeze to do.  Actually, I had pulled the Limeade out with the intention of it being the base for the photos. Not using my brain, I grabbed the patterned piece (Bella Blvd) which I had already selected it for the “A” position and cut it for the “G”. After placing the photos on it I liked it anyway and just went with it.

This was serious fun. Tiny Tot is so delighted with these bubble guns. This one we picked up at The Dollar Tree. It’s a “dipper”, doesn’t have a built in supply like the one we bought her a few months back.

Now for the next layout out, a double.

This is from Let’s Scrap. Since it doesn’t give the dimensions my photos don’t really match the sketch, but the position is the same. DSCN9463_talk left

The papers I used are old so this also fills the Scrapbusters challenge as I used the required elements as well. Papers from My Mind’s Eye, Dream Street, Pink Paislee.

I did sprays over the hexagon stencil, and stippled with Limeade ink over the leaf stencil.

These photos are from a playground near our home. The pipe phone was fascinating to her – us too actually. At one point she was pretending this play tube was a house and she was caring for her little baby. All pretend, mind you, since she had nothing in her arms. She pretended to cradle a baby, talk to it, and so forth. She constantly amazes me! Here she is not quite 2 and a half.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you find some inspiration from these sketches too.

Small Wonder in Melbourne Beach

DSCN8542_wonder 2_edited-1

I created this layout from a Let’s Scrap sketch for the Stash busters challenge by Cheryl.  See details here and here here is the sketch I followed:

I used only the right side.  Instead of the banner I made a hammock for the title.

The patterned papers, stamps and hardware are Stampin’ Up!  The swirl die cuts are from TH.  I embossed the letters and punched them out – I think it made a cool border.  The title, Small Wonder, a sentiment, is also embossed.

For the challenge I was to use 3 patterned papers, bookplate, fiber, and a die cut journaling tag – which I still haven’t filled out yet.  My fiber started out as the yo-yo I made with scrap gold lame fabric but then I got the idea for the hammock so I have burlap fiber also.

In case you have noticed I have scrapped the same photos, let me explain.  I am making a book for Leia and Kara and one to keep for Kristy and me.  This is the page I am keeping and the two pager below is for her album.

Hurray for me – I have to brag and share with you have happy I am to have been in the top three at Perfect Sentiments!  It is for my Thanksgiving card with the vintage Dover image.

She Amazes Me

Here is a layout I just finished.  These are a couple of shots I took of Leia propped up on the couch with Grandma’s blanket and the iPad.  I swear her attention span sometimes is longer than some of the high schoolers I know.  She is so sharp, picks things up so quickly, remembers absolutely everything.  Carries on quite a conversation with you.  I am amazed she is only just turned two last month.DSCN8378_Amaze

I used this week’s sketch from Let’s Scrap here.

I had fun putting this page together with supplies from my stash and making the flowers with the Stampin’ Up Secret Garden stamps and dies.  I stamped on patterned paper and got a unique collection of flowers. Title font is cut with my Cricut, journaling is computer generated and then cut with Fiskars scissors I’ve had for years and never use any more.  I had just said to Donna the other day that I should get rid of all those scissors since I don’t use them, well, I used a pair – yeah.

Sweetest Leia

DSCN8367_sweetest  Following the rules of a challenge to use up some stash I followed the general idea of a Let’s Scrap sketch.  (right side only)   For the challenge we are to use 3 patterned papers – these are old papers from Basicgrey, Colorbok, Creative Imaginations sponges with Lucky Limeade SU Ink. 2 different washi tapes – near the bottom right. Rub-ons – I used some Stampin’ Up! Rub-ons from ages ago in two places, 1 is the Sweetest Thing title and the You Make Me Smile bottom right. Die cut – The butterfly upper right is a SU die. 3 bling – I have 3 rhinestones on the butterfly. I added a TH plastic film strip to the top, stapled down. I stamped a border of hexagons. The big word “Smile” and the flowers are Stampin’ Up! colored with SU markers. The bit of cotton lace trim, buttons, and journaling strips are all stash as well.  I have also entered this page in the Anything Goes challenge at Created With Love Blog at the invite by Linda Kupstas.

Leia is “turning one” in these layout pics. Now, she has just turned two and we so enjoyed her for the last few days. It’s impossible to believe she is only two when you hang out with here. Her conversations and thought patterns are that of a much older child. Her pediatrician had recently told Kara she was on the level of a 4 year old. I am so looking toward the next time I get to see her again, although I don’t know when that will be.DSCN8359

DSCF1406_edited-1This is a favorite candid shot I snapped unawares of her.  She is a wiz with a Tablet or iPad, I tell you!  She is really getting to recognize her letters as she plays with Elmo.  She doesn’t trace them out too well yet, but she can pick out some of them.  She has an interest in dancing, singing, and anything musical.  We took her to Friday Fest in Historic Downtown Melbourne and she reveled in the Latin DJ’s music and danced and danced to her heart’s content.  I apologize for the poor photo quality but I had no tripod, which would have been nice since it was quite dark, but this camera did the best it could.  She was so happy, and stepped and twirled and sometimes fell down.  Nothing stopped her from having a delightful time.

Hope you enjoy this little view of my “Sweetest” Great Grand at age one and at two!

Latest Two Scrapbook Pages to Share

With the newly formed partnership with my daughter’s decision to become a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator I have been busy thinking and planning the workshops to come.  I love setting this all up, the designing and figuring out what to demo, etc.  Kristy is the social guru and is totally awesome at talking to people and getting them involved and excited about the craft.  So, next Sunday we have an open house to announce the start of a card ministry we plan to create for our church.  I hope to reveal some good and compelling reasons for folks to want to learn to personally make cards that they will want to attend future workshops and hopefully some of them will also become hooked, as we did, when were were first introduced at our church in Virginia Beach way back when.

With all this going on I have managed to create some scrapbook layouts.  My time as a Design Team member with Let’s Scrap has come to an end so I am not under the gun to get pages completed.  JasmineBush

I actually used a Let’s Scrap sketch and a challenge from the site for this page.  The challenge was to use 1 pp, 1 solid cs, spritz, 6 eyelets, letters. The background is Graphic 45. Solid is unknown-way old and poor quality, but it suited the purpose here. Here is the LS sketch:

I used a sewing machine to make the circle on the square so I could use a 4 x 6 photo.  I used the 2 1/2 inch punch for the 3 circle photos.  Oh, forgot, had to use rub-ons. They were all the rage at one time, I never became a fan, so I still had some I could use for this challenge.  The centers of the white flowers have a stamped and punched little bitty flower and it is all put together with an eyelet.  I’m still a fan of eyelets.  There are a few scattered littles as well.  I added one die cut stem and the stamped (Stampibilites) journaling spot. The sprays are a Tattered Angels Leather something and a spray from Glimmer Mist in gold. The Tattered Angels never did spray right so I had to put some in another little mister bottle in order to use it.  It is so much easier to just use a little SU reinker in a bottle when I need a spray but I wanted to try to use up some of the bad stuff too.  The title is stamped with the Morning Post set, I got the letters I little too light, but it still matches the color of the G45 paper. Just some cute picks of when the feathered girls were still quite young.

oldTownSpookHouse

Now this was a fun page to do.  The photos were taken when we went to meet Kara in Kissimmee the end of July.  We had a stroll around the little tourist area of Old Town and came across this spook house, but it wasn’t open.  Still, it was fun to take some fun photos of Kris fooling around.  She isn’t lying down in the bottom photo, btw.  The patterned sheet is an old piece from a retired SU Halloween pack.  I used the SU distress tool for the first time and love it, so much easier than anything I’ve been using.  The house is heat embossed with black powder on vellum and is from the new Best of 25 Set.  The shoes and the hat I popped up on Kris’ photo are from the Wicked Cool set.  I didn’t think of adding the shoes and hat until after the photos were glued down or I would have moved the vertical photo a bit further down.  Oh well, must make do and make a mental note to plan better before pasting down next time.  The skull, white embossed on vellum, is from a Smeared Ink stamp set Quoth the Raven.  The washi tape is SU’s new holiday tape too.  The swirles are double cut in gray and black from a Tim Holtz Elegant Flourishes die.  I overlapped them slightly and the dimension works better irl, not so much in the photo here.  Kristy suggested the white dots with the Signo pen – yep, that adds just the right amount of interest to make the flourishes noticeable.

I invite you all to visit our website and look for some “wicked cool” deals!  Check out our blog posts, and keep coming back as I make more of them to share ideas.  When you are on the right website it will have my daughter’s name KristyLee Deyette up top.  If it doesn’t, just search for her as a demonstrator in Florida.  You should be able to find her ok.

Thanks for stopping by!

Have a sweet and crafty day, hugs Joyce

Eat a Cupcake for Let’s Scrap DT

j-8142cupcake

What a fast and simple card, but so cute!  I created this using this week’s sketch at Let’s Scrap.  This is my contribution as a member of the design team for the week.DSCN8206_edited-1_thumb.jpg

The black dots is from a BasicGrey paper pad, mounted on white. The yellow pattern is from a Kathy Davis paper pad embossed with Stampin’ Up! Stripes folder and matted with Gunball Green (my latest favorightist green!).  The cupcake was stamped with Stampin’ Up! stamps – a really fun set – and punched out.  The sentiment, from another SU! stamp set, was stamped and punched – both punches are SU!, btw.  The chevron pieced are from a package of premade cutouts I picked up at the scrapbook store in Kissimmee the other day while Donna and I visited a store over there.

Also, lots of good news coming!  I got my “Artist Complementary copy in the mail yesterday and dear daughter Kris has signed up to represent Stampin’ Up! which is great since we both love that product to most!!

Whale of a Time Layout

I used some of the many beach photos I took over the two days the four of us played at the beach.  Here is my design team layout for this week using the Let’s Scrap sketch.

I used only the left side for my one-pager.funSun12x12

This started with a So Saffron background, then I rolled a Stampin’ Up! wheel on the Night of Navy with Versamark, once for the turquoise embossing powder and second for the white ep in a random pattern.  I created a sun by stamping the medallion stamp on vellum and cutting it out.  Tempting Turquoise was used to form the mat and border of waves.  Sahara Sand made the Tim Holts swirl die cut.  The whale and the title letters are cut from Cricut.  Once again I used the That’s the Ticket SU set for embellishment, as well as the punched out “love you” piece.  The hibiscus stamp from Stampendous was stamped twice – red and green –  and cut out.  I used another SU punch on the map paper, circled our location and used an arrow stamp to point to it.  Some spritzing with my SU spritz tool which reminds me of Claudia from my stamping group, SOS Stampers, because she was funny about struggling with it when our leader tried to get her to use it. (love ya’ Claudia!)  Although my photos are close together I stayed close to the original sketch.  To me that is the fun part of playing a challenge – trying to work it.  I had to cut the photos of Leia and Kris way down to fit, but it is still good because it accents the good time laughing with each other.  That baby girl sure loves her grandma!

Hope you like! Enjoy your time with your loved ones and remember every moment is precious and can never be replaced.  Once that moment is gone you never get another chance to give your love to them.  So, love like there’s no tomorrow!

Week of 8-7-13 Layout for Let’s Scrap

paintdrawlove0713

I used a collection of three activities for this layout.  This is the layout I worked with.

For the large photo space on the left I collaged three photos of Leia finger painting.

I used hexagons instead of squares – of course I did, I’ll use hexagons any chance I get!

DSCN8137_leftThe left side DSCN8138_right

The right side

I made the embellishments from Stampin’ Up! stamps and patterned papers.  Wanting the title to stand out a bit more from the busy background paper, I added some paints.  I can’t say it turned our how I expected, but I learned from it.

Sun Sand Water done Digitally

I had fun playing with my photos from the recent days at the beach.  I am waiting for my photos to arrive in print that I ordered from Snapfish. So I played a challenge at Let’s Scrap.  It was to use a frame, ribbon, tag, and a cluster.071113_LeiaBeachw

I used a Let’s Scrap sketch, digital supplies from Cuddlebeez, let me scrapbook, MD colourful autumn, Mistybelle, BL designs Sea Noise, and Darlene Haughin.
