Revisiting Old Scrapbook Layout

For a challenge at Let’s Scrap I dug out an old album.  The challenge was to get inspiration from one of our old layouts.  I picked this layout for two reasons.  First because it was one of very few double pagers and two because the photos were of Kara and I knew I had some of Kara I could scrap.DSCN7593_edited-1

Kara is in the Brownie uniform.  However the photo on the right bottom is of her at a much earlier time.  I figured the religious theme made it ok to combine; it was unheard of to waste space by scraping a single photo too often.  Notice the pattern paper and high contrast solid paper.  Very little in the way of embellishment.  Today I try to embellish more and of course most of the time I embellish with something stamped.

Here I found two sheets of vintage looking pattern paper.  I also used two more patterns in similar pinks.  The stamps are Stampin’ Up!, The flowers and all but one button are Paper Mania. The large button (center left on the border) is from Tin Holtz.  I used my CM oval system for part of the left photo in keeping with the LS sketch I picked to follow.  The title is cut with my Cricut.  The pink ribbon on the bottom of the border is SU, the twill with the words is of unknown origin.

With all the challenges we have been having at Let’s Scrap this month I have been getting way more pages done than usual.  I’m not sewing or making cards though.  Sure am enjoying scraping my photos!

Thanks for topping by, I’d love to know what you think about old and new styles in scrapbooking.
