I got down to some card making business this afternoon and made 3 cards for the Virtual Stamp Night over at SCS.
The first challenge was to make a card with a nature theme. I took a piece of SU dsp and used a Tim Holtz texture plate to make a wood grain impression as the background. The stamped bird from Inkadinkado is colored with pencils, the sentiment is from a stamp set by Stampin’ Up, Happy Harmony. The luscious chocolate satin ribbon is SU. Old olive was used for the card base.
My second card is for the state flower challenge, even though we didn’t have to use only our state flower, thank goodness since I don’t have an orange blossom stamp. I used this new stamp by Stampendous called Agapanthus Cluster with rich razzleberry ink on a paint chip. Yep, I used paint chips again. There are three on this card, two have been treated to the effects of a border punch, as has the edge of the card. I pasted a razzleberry ribbon to the inside edge for interest. Three elements on the card are popped up – the sentiment, butterfly (both from SU) and a punched portion of the agapanthus. I used sahara sand for the card base.
This third card went together quickly too. The challenge was to be inspired by a favorite summer activity. Sitting on the beach under a palm tree during the summer always ranked high on my list of activities. We also had to use some crimping and I chose a strip of striped paper. All patterned papers are from SU as is the card base which is wild wasabi. The trees are from the SU Tropical Party set and the sentiment “follow your heart- it knows the way” is SU too, Whimsical Words.
These were all quick cards, not fancy, but fun. We are sworn to spend no more than 45 minutes per card. These VSN challenges always challenge me in more ways than one – do it quick and spend two nights on it!
